Many of us set New Year Resolutions to help ourselves grow personally or professionally. So why not set a resolution for the entire family, something that will help you all grow together!? The possibilities are endless! Here are a few ideas to get you started:

Transitioning your “baby” to a “toddler” room is both exciting and nerve wracking! Have you ever wondered what this process looks like in the classroom and if there are things you can do at home to make the transition as smooth as possible?  The information in this blog post will cover all aspects of the transition from infant to toddler classroom.

As we wrap up the current school year, gear up for Pre-K graduation, and look forward to the school year ahead, your child’s Kindergarten readiness may be starting to cross your mind. Most of us tend to view Kindergarten readiness as consisting of a child’s cognitive understanding of the ABC’s and 123’s.

Important? Yes.

We recently asked our staff to list “10 Things I Love About SCA”. Our staff members consistently commented on the following:

  1. Happy staff members and great co-workers, great work environment
  2. Family Atmosphere (this fact was mentioned by almost every staff member!)
  3. Directors and owner are excellent, amazing and awesome! They truly care about their staff. SCA goes above and beyond for the staff. Flexible and supportive. Good pay, benefits, bonuses and breaks. Management is always involved and willing to help out. We have lots of teaching materials and art supplies. The management and owners let us know we are appreciated. Love that we are family-owned.

In honor of Read Across America, we are celebrating with LOTS of reading this month at SCA! Here is a list of some of our staff favorites!

Mrs. Kendra (Assistant Director): “I love all of the ‘Little Critter’ books by Mercer Mayer. I have fond memories of reading these with my mother and trying to find the hidden spider on every page!”

Ms. Brittney (Resource Teacher): “My favorite children’s book is ‘Chicka Chicka Boom Boom’ by Bill Martin. My teachers used to read it to me all the time when I was in preschool!”

Ms. Wendy (Toddler 2 Teacher and Department Coordinator): “’Whoever You Are’ by Mem Fox is a fabulous book because it shows children from around the world and incorporates diversity well! It’s a Reading Rainbow classic!”

Ms. Sadaf (Resource Teacher): “’The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ by Eric Carle is a great learning tool!”
